6-20-09 Saturday

This morning, Jared caught this 6 pound wiper at the lake. It provided great excitement for all the boys and he was pretty proud of it. Great job Bear!!!
We also had a neighborhood party with lots of food and fun. I picked up some bike ramps at a garage sale this morning and all the kids in the neighborhood had a great time with them. Jaydon did have a few wrecks...one of them is the video below. He's tough, though. He jumped back on the bike and kept riding over the ramps.

6-17-09 to 6-19-09 Wednesday to Friday

Wednesday: Today I took the boys to the movie Space Chimps at the AMC. It is summer movie club time and the tickets are $1. I also have a free movie watcher card and get free popcorn every Wednesday. $10, 4 movies tickets, 2 popcorns, and 1 large pop. Can't beat that. In the afternoon I took the boys swimming. They have been working hard on their homework and chores, so I like to give them a reward day! Thursday: We went camping and Jaydon and Josh picked these flowers for me when we went on a walk.
Friday: After an awesome day on the lake, we saw this beautiful sunset during our campfire. It just doesn't get better than this.

6-16-09 Tuesday

Back yard camping! All 3 started out in the tent. Jared came in at 11:00 p.m. He said the other two were asleep, but he couldn't go to sleep...so he chose the floor in the living room. Go figure. At 2:30 a.m., I heard Jaydon out the window crying. He came running inside and said he just got too cold. He hopped in bed with us and his feet were like ice cubes. Josh made it through the night. I still haven't seen him yet this morning and it's 8:15 a.m. Go Joshy!

Hay Springs from a distance

This pasture is the edge of the Pine Ridge.
Hay Springs from the west.
Jaydon had fun looking through papa's binocs.

Going, going...Gone!

6-15-09 Monday

Give the kid a perfectly comfortable bed, and he choses the floor! You can barely see his head poking out. Jared loves his pillows...and everyone else's too.

6-11-09 to 6-14-09 Thursday to Sunday

Thursday: Jared climbed the tree in Emmy's backyard. We stayed in Rapid until Thursday evening and then headed back to Crawford.
Friday: Ray, Sylvia, and Michael our neighbors and friends from Denver came to the ranch for the weekend. We took them to the highest pasture and admired the views, including a pretty sunset!
Saturday: They set up a target range in a pasture (with no cattle) and shot a few rounds. Here Michael is shooting the 50 caliber gun.
Sunday: After a long week and many miles, we are on our way home. The kids watched movies and I ran threw my to-do list in my head!

6-8-09 to 6-10-09 Monday to Wednesday

Monday: We took the boys pasture fishing in a little pond a few miles from the Ferrel Ranch. Jared was really excited when he caught 2 bass!! All the boys had fun exploring the pond and looking for turtles.
Tuesday: We went to Rapid City to see Nate, Emily, Kylan, and Tony. Unfortunately, it rained every day we were there, but we found a few breaks from the rain to play in the backyard.
Wednesday: Josh and Kylan discover they have something in common...dill pickles!!! Yum, Yum!!

June 4 to June 7 Thursday to Sunday

Thursday: Sure is nice the boys are big enough to mow now. Josh does the front and Jared mowes the back.
Friday: We left for NE first thing this morning and stayed with Staab's for the weekend. The Messenger Family Reunion was in Fort Robinson, so we got to see a lot of family this weekend. Jaydon and Cassie were swinging on Renee's front porch swing.
Saturday: We all gathered for a picnic at the Fort. What a crew! The kids had a great time with all their cousins, and so did I!! We are already planning next year's stay at the Fort.
Sunday: Six of the eleven kids are pictured here. I can't believe they are all looking at the camera!! (left to right: Michail, Jaydon, Cassie, Bryant, Maddox, and Sami)

May 31 to June 3 Sunday to Wednesday

sunday: Jaydon enjoys taking pictures with my point and shoot camera. Today his object was his Thomas the train sprinkler. He hooked it up and tried using it, but it's just not been warm enough.
Monday: I cut this flowers from my garden today. They were getting so tall and bushy, but look quite nice in the vase.
Tuesday: These are the pillows Grandma Doris and I made over the weekend while she was here. I just got around to taking the picture.
Wednesday: The boys have been working hard on their summer chores. They all have responsibilities and rewards for completeing them. Josh had just finished vacuuming and was picking it up to take it upstairs. If nothing else, it may build him a few more muscles.
