The Infamous Walleye

Corey took the day off work, while Rog and Renee were here, to take Roger and Jared fishing.  It turned out being Corey's best fishing day ever!  Not only did he have is dad and son in the boat, fishing with him, but he caught his biggest walleye ever, 12# and 31.5 inches.
This is his favorite shot of the fish.  It looks HUGE!
When they pulled up the boat ramp, the park ranger took this picture of them to put in the lodge.  Apparently, a fisherman loading his boat saw the fish and called 9News with a news tip.  Corey was called for an interview with was on the 9pm and 6 and 7 am news.  The story was also posted on the 9News website.

He was quite the celebrity for a few days!
He did decide to have the fished mounted.  When we got home, we weighed it on the digital scale and remeasured to get an accurate size for the fish.  Then he packed it on ice in a color and headed to the taxidermist.  Jared was just as excited about Corey's catch as Corey, but he was sad to see his dad take the fish to be mounted.  His tears in his eyes, he said, "I just don't want the fish to die."  His dad and grandpa have taught him well...catch and release!  However, it's OK to keep a few now and then, especially if it's the catch of a lifetime!

Cool Pool

A little backyard fun in the pool.  The boys have enjoyed cooling off in the pool on our back patio.

So I had to do a little cropping on this last photo.  When Corey lifted Jaydon out of the water for the picture, Jaydon's trunks fell below the "uh, oh" line and he was revealing more than my blog watchers would want to see.  So to keep this blog "G-Rated", I cropped out what made this the funniest picture of the day!

New Tube at Standley Lake

Ah, summer, floating, relaxing, playing, dipping toes in the water...
Two years ago, Jaydon was playing in the tube by the boat and Josh accidentally tipped the tube.  Jaydon fell out and has been scared of the tube since.  Saturday, he started playing on the tube by the boat, with Jared pulling him in.  Then, he said he wanted to try to ride, by himself, with "the motor with the 8 on it"  (the kicker).   So we pulled him slowly, until he started yelling faster!  The fast we went, the bigger the smile was on his face.
Then the big boys wanted to ride with him.  He was a little scared of them getting on with him, but quickly overcame that fear.  Soon, we were zooming around the lake with all 3 smiling...and posing!  The faster we went, the more their hair stood up!  When we were done, Jaydon told Corey this was the "best day of his life".  His hair was a little crazy after riding the tube!

Corey's Favorite Thing to do at the Lake

We all know Corey likes, rrhem, loves fishing.  He even enjoys skiing and riding the tube.  But the thing he loves most is anchoring and floating with the radio on.  We soak up some sun and the kids play in the water.  Of course, there are also munchies involved!
Best Buds!  Bandit had a great time camping this weekend.  He did get a lot of weed seeds caught in his hair, so Corey was picking them out for him.
Floating and snoozing.  Then the boys and I were talking Corey into getting a dog, he said, "If we get a dog, you can't make me love him."  I think Bandit handled that quite well.  They seem to be snuggling together just fine here and whenever Corey sits on the couch, Bandit is on HIS lap.
Bandit was completely knocked out.  It's hard work having fun at the lake!
